What am I Learning About?
For anyone who doesn’t know, I love cars a lot! The simplest way to participate in car modification, and probably one of the most important life skills to have is knowing how to change a tire!
Many people think that changing tires is a painstaking task that can only be done by mechanics. However, that is not true! Almost anyone can change a tire with a few materials, and a little bit of time!
In this article, you will find the materials needed, helpful images, and detailed instructions for learning how to change a tire!
Materials For Changing a Tire
- A spare wheel
- An impact drill or ratchet set
- A car jack
How to Change a Tire
- First off, you should find the jack points on the car. Jack points are places under the car where you can place a car jack.
- Next find the jack point closest to the faulty tire, and place the jack there. Lift the car by pumping the jack about 7 inches.
- Remove the defective tire using the drill or ratchet. Do this by placing your drill over a tire bolt, and turning it counter-clockwise. Repeat this for all 5 bolts.
- Take your spare tire, and place it in position.
- Drill your new tire into the slot. This is the same process as before, except in reverse! Place your drill over a tire bolt, and turn it clockwise. Repeat this for all 5 bolts. Make sure to test the car to make sure everything is working in proper order.
- Almost done! Lower the car off the jack and store your used tire.
You’re Done!
You’re done! It is important to know how to change a tire as it urges us to be self-reliant in times of stress. The idea behind this knowledge is to let people save themselves instead of calling someone else (you also have a new life skill!)
