Recent Flooding in Pakistan Has Affected Millions

Since June, Pakistan has been suffering from extensive flooding caused by monsoons and high rainfall. Learn what effects this has had on the people.

What Happened?

Since June, Pakistan has been suffering from extensive flooding caused by monsoons and high rainfall. These floods have displaced tens of thousands of people and affected millions of others. The southwestern regions of Sindh and Balochistan have been greatly affected by this catastrophe, but so have the south-eastern regions of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Effects of Pakistan’s Flooding

The death toll since June has just reached 1,000. 100 died just this past weekend. Most people are dying from flash floods causing collapsed houses and landslides in the hilly areas. Although most of the towns badly affected by these floods had mediocre infrastructure at the time (un-tarred roads and bridges on the brink of collapsing), the amount of damage will cost millions of dollars.
